U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to demand real solutions from congress, and we’re here for it. Last Friday during the first congressional hearing on Cannabis business issues, AOC asked cannabis entrepreneur, Corey Barnette, if marijuana legalization is "compounding the racial wealth gap”, in an exchange that went viral.

The very people who made “cannabis culture” cool, are intentionally left out of rooms where important decisions are being made - not to mention the number of people wrongfully incarcerated as a result of the flawed and failed war on drugs.

Although her questions only scratch the surface of the racial inequalities within the cannabis industry, the fact that she is bringing attention to them is hopeful. See a clip she posted from the exchange below.
